Emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness teach us how to change, where the mindfulness and distress tolerance teach acceptance. These four skills is attach with self-management and they are part of the five functions in Dialectal Behaviour Therapy (DBT) which are: enhancing capabilities, group work and homework, individual therapy, training and support, and treatment team. Another skill in DBT is treatment, which links with mindfulness techniques, is a state of mind;

  • the reasonable mind, which is a cool, rational and task-focused mind; the
  • the emotional mind which is hot, mood-dependent and emotionally-focused mind,

and between them is the wise mind, which holds the wisdom seeing the value of both the reasonable and emotional mind. The wise mind brings the left and right brain together to make a middle path of the functional intellect. Those complicated techniques are simplify with patience and practice.
